The clock starts when the phone stops ringing

A down site is not a design ticket. It is missed calls. We take the URL, the last known-good commit or backup, and the DNS panel, and we do not open a six-week brief.

What usually broke

Expired card on the registrar. Nameservers pointed at a dead host. A CI deploy that published an empty dist. PHP/Node crash after a plugin update. Cloudflare 522 because origin dropped. Mixed content after an SSL swap. We name the layer before we rewrite copy.

First hour

Health check from more than one region. DNS, TLS, origin, and the last deploy. If origin is dead we park a worker landing on the apex so the domain answers. Then we repair the real stack.
